We assess so we don’t have to guess. It is impossible to help any player reach their golf goals without a clear and detailed understanding of where they are with their current golf game. The clearer this picture the better we can make the plan and the more certain we can be of success. This is why we start every new student with an assessment, which will include a swing assessment and goal setting interview.
As one of Derek’s students, you will have access to the OnForm app where you can share swing videos, ask questions and record lesson notes. You will also have the opportunity to utilize the stats tracking app SwingU to track your progress on the course.
During your one hour appointment you will hit several balls with a variety of clubs on the Trackman launch monitor. Your swing will be recorded and analyzed with the Swing Catalyst video system. You will also have a conversation about your golf goals, golfing history and time available to commit to your goals. This is the perfect opportunity to learn more about Derek’s approach to your improvement process and why having your own golf coach will be very different to having a swing teacher or sporadic, one off, technical golf lessons.
At the conclusion of your New Student Assessment, Derek will email you a copy of your Personal Improvement Plan for your own records.
Derek’s students are serious about improving their golf game and shooting lower scores on the golf course, They believe that commitment to a long term player development approach that includes regular coaching and structured practice is the way to accomplish their golf goals. They keep stats of their rounds on course which guide their practice and coaching sessions. They are committed to working on their game several times per week and keep notes from their practice so as to track their progress. They come to coaching sessions with questions. They don’t do single lessons, they are committed to a long term coaching program.
